Who’s using BI Tools? Infographic 2016

Want to see what’s happening right now in today’s emerging companies when it comes to the use of BI tools? This infographic reveals that while most organizations are shifting nowadays towards complex BI reporting and analytics software, there are still some discrepancies between who’s actually using them inside the organization and who is deciding what the organization needs or spends on such technology.

BI TO THE MASSES? NOT YET

Approximately what percentage of an organization’s employees is using BI and/or analytics tools on any platform? Our query has shown that less than 10% of an organization’s employees are using BI and/or analytics tools while 80% or more of today’s emerging companies are using some kind of Business Intelligence or Data Analytics platforms.

BUSINESS ANALYSTS MOST OFTEN IDENTIFY WHAT IS NEEDED FOR BI AND ANALYTICS

Who identifies what is needed in BI and analytics applications? It looks like the Business Analysts are the ones who most often assess and forecast their organization’s requirements when it comes to finding the right solution for effectively analyzing Big Data, closely followed in this specific role by Data Analysts, Line-of-business managers and BI, Analytics and Data Warehouse managers. We also learned that less than half of Sales Representatives usually take up on this task in their organizations.

CFO AND FINANCE MANAGEMENT ALLOCATE THE BUDGET

Who allocates the budget for Business Intelligence and Analytics projects inside the organization? It comes to no surprise that the top-level managers decide how much they will spend on their BI and Analytics solutions. This is why it is vital for the organization to have effective communication between top-level managers and their staff in order to choose the right tools and avoid compromises.

BI, ANALYTICS AND DW MANAGEMENT CHOOSE THE TECHNOLOGY

We wanted to find out who chooses the technology for Business Intelligence and Analytics application in an organization so we asked our audience and discovered that while in 59% of the cases, this task goes to the BI, Analytics and Data Warehouse managers, there are also other company members that decide in this instance like the CIOs, IT managers, CTOs or Line-of-business managers.
